       Youths being materialistic is not something to be amuse anymore, this sign had been a common
trend throughout the global of cities. However, there is also a sign of increase in youths demand for material goods.

       Lets take an example. Just seeing the street of Singapore main tourist gathering place, Orchard. The youths, just looking at what they wear and what accessory they brought is enough to clear things up, branded goods, expensive accessories, even their unattractive shoes is expensive.

      Youths could get all this influence and source from, the media, teen magazine, daily school and even at home. Media had always been a big part of cities man life, the teen magazine that the youths

     Would brought for every issue. Not to mention the school and at home where these are the easiest place to be influence for being materialistic.

    One would definitely watch either television or internet as source of media for a form of relaxation. This media had influence the youths to be materialistic by bringing them the latest trend of fashion and is also told to be a 'must buy' goods.

     The magazine is also part and parcel of youths lifestyle, seeing and reading the latest fashion trend, the latest gossips news, anything that could get people attention. Influencing the youths by giving them the mindset of 'expensive goods is always the latest trend, you can be attractive as long as you follow this magazine.'

    The school and at home play the most important part in youths materialistic life. Teachers and parents had to be a role model for the student or children and have to teach them why being overbroad in liking materials goods is not a good things. Unlike some teacher and parents that is all talks but no action. On one hand they always tell the student and children that being too materialistic is bad and it is unacceptable, on the other hand they are the ones that always buying branded goods. How would anyone be convince this way?

    Being materialistic can lead to crime, stealing of ‘out of reach’ gadgets, branded items, expensive things
that they want, marrying not to the man but to his wealth. The case of youths crime rates increase is also
an evidence that youths are getting more materialistic these days.

    Despite all the disadvantage there are also some good points that is miss out from all this discussion.
Youths that are materialistic means they are following fashion, which just raise the impression points
we get from all the tourist that is in town being fashionable and not a sloppy Singaporean that wear t-shirt and jeans.

     Being materialistic also means that our media actually had the power to influence people, this could go to our country advantage as there will be more funds, more show and lastly more entertainment to relieve the worn out body. Hence, despite all the disadvantage youths could still be materialistic as long as they do not cross the line.

      In overall, I still agree that youths are getting more materialistic these days, as i have stated in the above
paragraph that there is evidence of youth getting more materialistic. Even though there is advantages to it
we still cant do anything about the youth that had already cross the 'line'.

It is true that schools today place too much emphasis on acadamic performance rather
than character moulding.Acadamic performance is a regconition by the teachers
that indicates how a student have been performing in school.Character moulding is the
individual nature of a person.Schools thinks that acadamic performace is the key to
sucess as in order to proceed to the next level of higher education, acadamic performace
is definitely significant.But,character moulding is also significant, students with good
character will eventually do well in the furture due to their good bulit of character.

Firstly, Schools thinks that students with good acadamic performance will eventually
handle things better than those who do not perform well. They thinks that students
with good acadamic performace have the right mindset to produce good quality work as
most of this student are willing to put in the effort to do the work.


Secondly, schools emphasis on acadamic performace is to hope that students that are
constantly having good acadamic result would eventually grow the schools reputation.
When the school's repution is growing it would eventually gives the furture student a
foresight of how the school will continue to do in the furture.Thus, School place too
much emphasis on acadamic performance than charater moulding.Eventhough, the students
character were bad, as long as they keep up with their standard in producing good
acadamic performance it would not effect the school.Hence, schools thinks acadamic
performance is important than character moulding.

Lastly, schools thinks that acadamic result is important as when they step foot in to
the society in furture acadamic result and is definitely the key to success.With a good
acadamic result they would eventually have a better job oppurtunity as Singapore needs
youths with brain talent which can helps singapore to develop further.Thus, this shows
that it is important to have a good acadamic result in order to help them in their furture
that is why schools place too much attention on their students acadamic performance. It is
actually to help them.

  However, schools do not have the inkling that character of a student is also very important.
Character is a very important value, if students do not have a good character, no matter how
well they score for their acadamic they will eventually be left a side by others due to their
stubborn character.Thus, character is important too.Also, some students whose studies were
not as ideal as others but they have a good character.This students in furture might do
better than students who have ideal result as we all say ' don judge the book by its cover'
students with bad acadamic result might sometimes surpress the students who do better than them
in other area. Hence, character moulding is also important in school other than acadamic
performance.

In conclusion, i think that schools nowadays are indeed more focus about acadamic performance
than students character, as they thinks that students acadamic result could show everything about
the students. However, they were wrong to a certain extent, some students are born to be smart
but some are not. With character it will eventually tell us how this student will be in furture
.Still, school still emphasis too much on acadamic result as students in singapore are facing
stiff compeition with other students in their schools.Hence, i believe that it is true that
schools today place toomuch emphasis on acadamic performance rather than character moulding.

Benefits Of Internet

Internet is one of the technological inventions that were formed in the 20th century. When it was first introduced to the globe, everyone across the world was so fascinated with how the internet functions. It became so popular that within the first few months of released; over thousands of webpage had been created by the users. As time pass down, more function had been added to benefit the internet users. Not long after, the internet has become the most common word for conversation and most importantly, it has replaced the only source of information, books.

Back in 19th century where technology was still very fresh, the only source of information that people had was the books. Lots of books were written by fore-fathers and later sold to the publisher to earn money for a living. However, as publishers sold the books at very high priced and not all people are wealthy, the only choice they had was to rent it from the library. With limited amount of copies published, people always go to the library early in the morning hoping to rent the books they craved for. After the internet was shown-case to the public, there was a huge fall in the amount of people renting books from the library. The reason was simply because the internet was able to provide a wide range of information and even more than what the books contained. Having internet users from all over the world, information had been gathered from everywhere to a webpage which enables the reader to have an easy time reading and understand better, meanwhile learning. Besides, it also allows words to be edited on the spot such as correcting to the proper Standard English and cancellation of errors. Therefore, we can see that internet is a lot more efficient and has entirely transformed this world into a technological globe.

Besides having said that, the introduction of internet has also shrunk the world in terms of the communication across the continents. Back into the history, the only form of communication with friends located at the next village or overseas was by writing letter. It usually takes about two or three months depending on the distance apart before reaching the receiver. As we can see, it takes a long period of time to deliver a letter. Can you imagine if the letter is very important and urgent? Hence, the invention of internet has shorten the time for delivery and it is so efficient that you can instantly each out to your siblings/friends located overseas. Electronic Mails (e-mail), Window Live Messengers and Facebook are some examples of common communication tools. Other than being able to contact instantly, you are also able to communicate with your siblings/friends through the webcam. This network was flavoured by many people especially students who studies overboard as it helps to reduce their chances of homesick.

Furthermore, the internet has changes the lifestyle of people. In those days when internet was not so advanced, people used to do shopping by going shops after shops. Today, most people preferred to do shopping online as they are able to stay comfortably at home while need not waste energy walking around the streets and enduring the extreme weather. On the other hand, online games which were introduced since 1990s had attracted the attention of many people, especially teenagers across the globe. Games such as Maple Story, StarCraft and Eudemon are some games that caught the addiction of teenagers. Hence, we can see that since the introduction of internet to the globe, many things had changed within this short period of time.

Conversely, even though the internet has greatly benefited us, at the same time it has also created many problems. For instance, one of which is the internet pornography. As more people are addicted to pornography through serving, it has brought about negative damages to their mind. Besides, with an increase in the number of sites viewed, more pornography webpages will be created which in turn would destroy the image of internet. On the other hand, through several webpage where chatting online across the globe is available, many people meet new friends whom they do not really know and unconsciously reveal their true identity to the opposite person and some even agree to meet with each other alone. Very often, it is the girls who are always the victims that gets soften easily simply by sweet talks. Besides, you can never know the true identity of the person whom you are communicating with unless they meet up. Therefore, we can see the even though the internet has enable communication across the globe, risk is also present at the same time. 

On the whole, the internet has benefited this world greatly by bringing everyone across the globe closer to one another. It has also provide entertainment to people such as watching movies, updating blogs. With the internet now, what will come next?

It is good that children take part in beauty pageants so that they can appreciate what beauty is.write an essay of more than 600 words if this is true and why.

      Beauty pageants for children can be in the range of 9-18 as they are still immature or they have not gone through puberty, this range of children is most likely to be force to join as a elementary scholars is most likely would not sign up by themselves. Most children are force to participate in beauty pageants by their parent and being force to do something is not helping the children to appreciate beauty, otherwise they might just have the opposite effect.

      It is not true that children can appreciate beauty when take part in beauty pageants. Beauty can be in form of inner beauty , beauty of being natural, the beauty of scenery and even sexual desires is a form of beauty. Children that take part in beauty pageants have to gone through procedures to be actually qualify and be selected to be a contestant for beauty pageants, through this procedures the organizer had already limit the form of beauty. The beauty they had in mind for beauty pageants is the outer form of beauty, for example, beautiful and sexy for female and handsome for males, which both case is base on their looks and body. Other then that is called ugly for example, pimple on face is ugly, being fat is ugly. Also to be qualify there is a range of height and weight the contestant had to satisfy, hence there is a limits of the form of beauty. Thus, it is not true that children that take part in beauty pageants can appreciate what beauty is.

     Beauty pageants is almost always associate with sexual desire for example, the sexiness, the seductiveness of body for females or muscular body for males. Children that had not gone through puberty do not know what sexual desire are and they do not have a perfect seductive body or muscular body, how could they participate when they had neither of the quality above. Above all this could be a form of indirect sexual harassment, have them wear indecent clothing and walk like a model showing their childish bodies in front of few thousands people , taking away their purity and innocents of a child. Hence, it is not true that children that take part in beauty pageants can appreciate what beauty is.

     However, beauty pageants also had its own beauty that children can appreciate. They make sure to ask at least one profound question, for example, what you would like to do if you win this beauty pageants. Which is a typical question for almost all contest, with this children had to answer in a positive way and this make the beauty of human nature even though sometimes what they say does not come out of their hearts. In beauty pageants they had to choose the scenery that would go with the clothing, thus they could appreciate the beauty of nature. Hence, it is true that children take part in beauty pageants can appreciate what beauty is.

     In overall, it is not true that children take part in beauty pageants can appreciate what beauty is. Although beauty pageants had its good I still think that children can not appreciate what beauty is by joining beauty pageants, they have to go through mental stress such as being stare at and at such a young age that have not gone through puberty they still do not know what sexual beauty is so is the outer beauty.

unleash their beauty.I think it is a great oppurtunity for them to take part in this pageants as 
it might be a once in a lifetime event as nobody will ever stay young.Thus, i think that young 
children should be encouraged to participate in beauty pageants since they are still young they
should get into contact with such pageants to understand more about beauty.This way they would
have a basic mindset that beauty is very important to everyone.


Beauty can be classified into many catagories such as,' quality, physical attractiveness,a 
characteristic of a person and a thing.' This are actually some main defination of beauty, to me i 
think that beauty is actually a extraordinary word which cannot be describle easily. it could make 
someone run out of words and catch a person attention. Thus,'beauty' is what everyone hope to have.


Firstly, I think it will be beneficial that their children take part in beauty pageants, as
they will be able to achieve the fundamental of a beauty pageants and it is basically 'beauty'. 
With this, they will eventually have a rough idea of the importance of beauty as they would now know
that the requirements for participating a beauty pageants is 'beauty'. Having them to take part in
such pageants would give them a mindset that they should appreciate their beauty.


 Secondly, taking part in such pageants would help them to build up their confidence in their physical
apperance.They would be more obsesse about how they doll themselves up as after the pageants they
would have the basic mindset on dolling themselves up beautifully, also when u are dressed nicely
it would leave a good impression to others who are looking at them. Thus, this tell us how much the 
beauty pageants have help to influence the young children to have a mindset in appreciating beauty.
Everything should start from young, when they are young and they were able to take part of get into
contact with such pageants they would have the idea about the importance of beauty even when they 
grow.


Thirdly,after participating such pageants they would eventually be more cautious about how they dress
when they go out with friends. This is mostly due to the influence of the pageants as during the pageants 
there will always be judges giving negative or postitive comments about how they dress. Hence, when 
they understand the comments given by the judges they would soon be influence by them and start to 
dress up  beautiful. Overall, they actually learn to appreciate beauty after the beauty pageants.


Lastly, since young they have the fundamental of beauty it will eventually help them when they are out
into the society as they will be able to produce better quality work if they work  as a fashion designer
when they grow up. Thus, in other words the young children actually benefited from the particular beauty
pageants. Afterall they eventually appreciate the importance of beauty and it is able to help in their
furture. Hence, it is actually true that young children would appreciate what beauty is.


However, there are some detractors to the statement.young childrens who take part in this pageants, most 
were being forced by their parents as their parents wants to show everyone how beautiful is their own child
. Thus, they do not really know the meaning of the pageants. Also, young children have not start their puberty 
they are still young they should get involve in such pageants as it might give bad influence to them such as,'
they might be overly obsesse about their image.' On the other words when they are too obsesse with their image
they will tend to spent lots of money on dolling themselves up. It is undesire for them to actually spent most
of their money on dolling themselves as they are still young. Hence, this eventually gives bad influence to the 
young children in having such a fashionable and beauty lifestyle. 


Recently i came across a article about ' Having a son is better than having a daughter' this is a article
about girls actually spent more money on dolling themselves than on other aspects. With this, it tells us that we will be influenced easily. Hence, taking part in pageants might not let the young children have the mindset of appreciating beauty but giving them a bad influence.


In conclusion, there are actually more detractors than benefition as i think it is also true that young children are
simple-minded and they tend to be influence easily. Thus, having them to participate in this pageants might affect them.However, i would like to support my stand as i think that having young children to take part in this pageants eventhough they might get bad influence, they will eventually gain experience at the same time. They will look into appreciate beauty more once they have take part in the contest.Hence, i believe that they will eventually appreciate beauty through beauty pageants.

To many people, beauty is a thing where they can see, touch and feel it. While others, beauty is hidden within the nature. In everyday life, we can define the word 'Beauty' by glimpsing across the streets. It is so commonly used that almost everyone misunderstood the original meaning and unknowingly replaced 'nice' with beauty. In other words, people often used beautiful to express a noun but the noun is neither very pleasing to the senses nor attractive as a feature. Conversely, neither is there a definite meaning for ‘Beauty’ which shows that it can be use to describe anything. 

At one point, Beauty is most common used by males to express the outlook of their spouse. Although many people find that their friend’s spouse may not be as pretty as a picture, to them, they are the most beautiful thing of all. At another point, natural beauty of what we known are actually behaviour such as gracious, generous, caring, oblivious and courteous etcetera. These behaviours are always the main focus actions that enable one person to attract their opposite sex. Thus, we can see that there are a lot of ways to “use” beauty.

Besides, beauty has become part of what we known as fashion. As the world became more globalised, talented artists started travelling across the world to look for opportunity in different countries, before settling down to start their own business with their unique brand. For instances, Louis Vuitton, G2000 and Armani are some examples of successful brand who managed to sell their goods at very high costs in turn for good qualities. As a result, we can conclude that beauty in fashion has been doing pretty well in the economy and are still in search for more talented people within the fashion industry.

In other words, the main target is the youth generation. Today, simply glance across the Orchard Street, we can see that youth are dressing up themselves with different clothing that suit the seasons. Thus, it is a fact that youth do realise about the change in fashion during the seasons. However, most youth across the Singapore are just following what the fashion tells but they had never come across their mind to design their very own clothing that is in relation to the fashion season. Also, almost all the youth preferred the colour black compared to the other colours. This has result in a serious problem as beauty in fashion has a meaning of rainbow colours which means that none of the colours should be left out. Hence, we can see that youths are lacking of talent and knowledge about the true beauty in fashion industry.

What can we do to improve the current situation? First, which is the most important for youths is to encourage them to participate in beauty pageants. For instance, the time and efforts to prepare for one fashion show and what is the differences between each seasons. As such, the youths will be able to understand more about fashion and clear their doubts on the spots. Secondly, as youths first learned about fashion from the magazines, several companies can provide details each week to their readers with regards on what is important when designing and which fabric will suit the best etcetera.

Besides, companies can come up with competition for youths to participate and from there, enrich their knowledge and search for talented youths among all. Other than that, the companies can create a website to enable youths to sell their designs to them and only buy the designs if they are excellent. Through this program, I strongly believed that many youths will be interested and more talented designers will be developed over the time.

On the whole, youths in Singapore do not have a deep understanding about beauty. However, there is many ways that companies can do to nurture the youths in Singapore and allow them to gain a better understanding about what beauty is. Nonetheless, it will also help to bring Singapore one step further into the fashion industry.

 Many people may agree to the statement but I beg to differ. I believe that there is duality towards this statement, there is never wrong or right for youths to have a kind of mindset. Eventually, many youths assume that having sex education is pointless but a small numbered comprehend that it useful. For example, many schools have organised talks about sex education to acknowledge the students about the importance of sex and the consequences of the pre martial sex.Thus, this could show us why having sex education is so significant.

Firstly, Youths are innocent beings that are simple minded, due to their simple mind they tend to be reckless then considering the consequences. Eventually, causing them to do the wrong things. However, once they undergo some education they will be able to understand more about the "dos and don'ts" of their lifes. In other words, sex education is conducted to let the youths to understand more about the correct way of engaging in sexual behavior. Hence, having the youths to undergo sex education is ultimately useful for them.

Secondly, I think everyone must undergo sex education before they act recklessly. Having basic knowledge about sex education would have them to think twice before making a mistake. 'Sex' is a term which brainwash the mind of the youths, whenever youths heard about the word sex they would eventually compel. In order to prevent it from happening, every youths will undergo sex education to improve their understanding towards sex.However, some youths might just continued eventhough they have undergo the intensive seminar of sex. It is mainly due to youths nowadays are being rebellious and would not mind about the consequences causing youths to engage in sexual behavior easily.

Thirdly, if youths did not undergo sex education and did the wrong things. When something happen out of a sudden, and eventually regret what they have done they would finally know the importance of sex education. When it comes to the stage of no turning back it will be too late. On the other hand, there were many youths that have reached the age of engaging sexual behavior which caused them to do the wrong thing. Hence by organising intensive seminars might eventually lighten the mind of this youths having them to understand the right meaning of sex. Hence, it is definitely useful to undergo sex education.

Lastly, some youths comes from broken families that tends to have a lack of family love which causing them to have the wrong mindset in handling the term 'sex'. Thus, it means that there is a great possibility that they will engage sexual behavior when they grow up. Hence, by having sex education it could help to educate them beforehand and so reduce the risk from happening, with this education it would let them understand that eventhough there is no one to explain, after the talk they might be able to absorb and learn. Hence, conducting sex education is very important.

In conclusion, I believe that attending sex education is actually useful as it teaches us valuable lesson which we can learn from. After all it is important to have a clean mind and do what is right and not what is wrong. By doing the right thing at the right time would let us lead a better life.  Thus, by weighing the pros and cons, the pros of sex education eventually contradicts the cons of sex education. Hence, conducting sex education is definitely useful and not pointless.

Sex, a word that constantly brought up youth curiousty. In everyday life, we can often hear the word sex among the youths. To them, it seems to be so fascinating that it has urged many youths to explore sex through the internet search engine. Among all, its always the guys who are the ones that urged to be involve in sexual activities. However, they never know the importance and the consequences of having sex. Besides, youths get influences easily by the media and very often, they will kept imagining the same scenario that was seen on the television. Under these circumstances, the guys tend to be unable to control their action and as a result, they will perform the movements on their girlfriends.

Back in schools, students nowadays are open-minded in the sense that they are not as timid as a fawn when discussing about sex as compared to the previous generation ahead of us. One reason for this cause was simply because of the changes and influences that came from the foreign cultures. Since the influences of foreign cultures, we, as an Asian started to became more open-minded. As time passed down, things started getting more "ridiculous" in the sense that now, even the youths had also been influences. Scrolling back on old newspapers,  there were news that unearthed children at the age of ten had already been engaged in sexual activities. It may seem to be unbelievable but sadly speaking, it's the fact! Primary school students had already known about sex, can you imagine what they might possibly do when they grown up? It is really sad that Singaporeans at such a young age had already been influence with such improper behaviour. 

Besides, thinking backwards. If the child was able to control itself from its curiosity, would he have done it? Frankly speaking, I do not know the answer. However, we definitely know that the child knew about sex but the question is where?  It could be the case that he accidentally overheard the conversation of an adult. Or it may be the case where he learned it through visual, meaning, the media. Therefore, we can see that the adult generation influences on the youths could result in massive negative impact on them. 

On the other hand, youths who were undergoing the puberty stage are at risk. The reason why I phrase this out was because during the puberty stages, youths tend to be more aware of their surrounding; more sensitive to things that is occurring around them. Similarly, their curiosity will also rise as well, which shows the reason why youths tend to be the major victims for being involve in sexual activities. In other words, having sexual education is important for all youths, especially for those who are undergoing puberty stages. The reason is simple, the sexual education at one point serves as a guideline to guide the youths to the righteous path of their future. At another point, it teaches the youths on the importances and consequences they might have to endure if they choose to have pre-marital sex. 

On the whole, I strongly agree that sexual education is important and a must to be taught. Conversely, should the Ministry Of Education (MOE) emphases too much on sexual education as it might led to negative responses instead of producing positive results. Nonetheless, school's teachers and councilors should communicate and care more for their respective students. Thereafter, the students will be more comfortable to seek help from the school. At the very end, if we are not influences by foreign cultures, would there still be a need for sexual education to be conducted?
